The discussion on gender equality has been ever present in the minds of politicians, legislators and individual citizens since the late 19th century. The idea is that attributes and opportunities associated with being male or female, economically, socially, or culturally should be upheld equally. This being the case, women emancipation while much needed at the time of its inception in the 1970s, has now created a gap which when looked at closely may be interpreted as inequality towards the male gender due to the many years directed to the wellbeing of the girl child.
